A Nanaimo Councillor says he’s willing to see a pop-up site if a sanctioned one can’t be set up.
Nanaimo has seen 25 overdoses so far this year, the seventh most in B.C.
But Councillor Gord Fuller says they are actually number one if you crunch the numbers differently.
“Nanaimo has the highest per-capita rates of deaths due to overdose than any other community in B.C.”
Fuller says council has been interested in a supervised site for some time, but he says it’s taking too long.
He would welcome one of the provinces new overdose prevention sites or even an unsanctioned pop-up.
