TransLink has had three people riding the SkyTrain in dangerous ways this past week, prompting a warning from spokesperson Anne Drennan.
The first incident took place at Royal Oak station Friday night, with a man celebrating his 20th birthday Friday night by riding on the coupler head – the grate on the front of a SkyTrain.
The slightly intoxicated man from Chilliwack was apprehended by transit police soon after, and issued nearly $300 in fines.
He faced a Violation Ticket for riding on the outside of the train, which carries a fine of $115.00, and a Fare Infraction Notice for no paid fare, which carries a fine of $173.00.
Just five days earlier, a pair of boys, age 13 and 14, were caught riding on the exterior of a train entering Stadium station.
They were taken home by their parents and not issued any tickets due to their age.
All parties received serious warning that riding outside a train can cause real harm, or even death.
