Another successful CKNW Orphans’ Fund pledge day is in the books.
The 39th annual pledge drive will be headed to the bank, too, after bringing in more than $1.5-million.
Drex, half of the host team behind the Steele and Drex show, thanked everyone who donated as he unveiled the final tally this evening.
“The final total stands at $1,513,229! That is an incredible amount of money,” he said.
“Thanks to everybody that donated. All the businesses, all the organisations, all the individual CKNW listeners, all the different staff in this building that donated as well.”
The CKNW Orphans’ Fund provides money for special needs children in B.C., covering everything from speech therapy and medical equipment to summer camps.
The Fund provides funding to more than 85 different organizations each year.
Today’s drive, hosted by the Terminal City Club relied on dozens of dedicated volunteers who manned the phone banks, and featured live performances from notable local acts such as Chor Leoni and the Washboard Union.
