If a new poll by Insights West commissioned by the Dogwood Initiative environmental group is correct, there is strong opposition among Liberal voters to more oil tankers on the south coast.
The survey found 64 per cent of respondents who supported Justin Trudeau oppose oil tanker expansion, while 27 per cent support more tankers.
“Many British Columbians believe the approval of the Kinder Morgan project would go against the current prime minister’s campaign pledges on climate change and relations with First Nations,” said Mario Canseco, Vice President of Public Affairs at Insights West in a statement. “This includes a majority of those who chose to support the Liberal Party in last year’s federal ballot.”
More than 40 per cent of British Columbians say they would be less likely to vote Liberal in the next election if the Trudeau government approves the Kinder Morgan pipeline expansion proposal.
