Police are describing last night’s shooting in a Burnaby underground parking lot as a targeted attack, and a narrow escape.
Despite multiple bullets fired at the car, the occupants somehow managed to escape completely uninjured.
Staff Sgt. Major John Buis says the intended target does have gang links, but won’t say to which gang.
In the meantime, Buis says as it is a targeted attack, the public isn’t under any immediate threat.
“Unless somebody is unfortunate to be going by at the same time, there is no indication that the public, unless they are in the middle of this, are in any danger,” he said.
Buis says so far no arrests have been made.
He adds that while the attack is not believed to be connected to violent gang incidents in Langley, investigators haven’t ruled it out and are cooperating with other detachments and police forces in the Lower Maindland.
RCMP are asking for any witnesses to come forward.
