With Halloween fast approaching, the Fraser Health Authority is warning occasional drug users to take precautions if they plan on partying this weekend.
It’s a rare move, and comes in the wake of the mounting number of overdose deaths as what is traditionally a busy weekend for first responders approaches.
Fraser Health Medical Health Officer Dr. Ingrid Tyler says illicit drug users need to know the signs of overdose and where to find naloxone kits.
“There are ways to get Naloxone kits in Fraser Health region, one is through the take home Naloxone program which is run by the BC Centre for Disease control kits are also available in pharmacies.”
There have been 555 deaths from illicit drugs in B.C. between January and the end of last month – more than in all of 2015
The Health Authority is also cautioning about the use of alcohol.
