The union representing Blue Bus drivers, servicemen and mechanics will start job action starting Monday.
The union says negotiations with West Vancouver District broke off due to “employer demands for concessions in working conditions and benefits.”
Both sides are just too far apart. That’s according to Bill Tielman, Spokesperson for Amalgamated Transit Union Local 134.
“Instituting an overtime ban, so there will be no overtime work by drivers, mechanics, by anybody ibn the system. If unfortunately that means that service is disrupted either through lack of drivers available, then that is the first step in this job action”
Jeff McDonald with the District of West Vancouver can’t say how much overtime is used up by drivers.
“It’s possible that an extended overtime ban could have an impact on our service to residents.”
Both parties are feuding over working conditions and benefits.
Members have been without a contract since the end of March.
