The storm has claimed it’s first victim, a 15-year-old boy who was hit by a falling tree.
Family identify the youth as Shakir Salaam.
The incident took place around 2:30 p.m. on 188th Street near Clayton Heights Secondary.

Doug Stratchan with the Surrey school district says the Clayton Secondary student was walking home from school when he was hit by a falling tree.
“He had been, after dismissal in a park nearby the school when a tree fell and he has died of his injuries.”
Assistant Chief Brian Woznikowski with Surrey Fire says when officers arrived to a wooded area nearby they found Salaam in medical distress.
He was transported to hospital but did not survive
Surrey RCMP has taken over the case.
The funeral is scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
