The NHL preseason is in the rearview mirror and the Vancouver Canucks are on the verge of starting a season which has little to no expectations.
Both USA Today and Electronic Arts are suggesting in their season predictions that the Canucks will not only finish dead last in the NHL, but with 63 to 65 points.
That would be the lowest total in a non-lockout year since 1999.
Clayton Imoo with CanucksHockeyBlog.com says the club’s poor performance last year reflected in the attendance.
“There’s not a demand right now and we saw the prices drop last year, and we saw a lot of tickets for great games being available. I think it’s going to be a wait-and-see attitude. If the Canucks do well, tickets will be harder to find… But right now, even for the marquee games, there’s still tickets available if you’re willing to pay that price.”
As for those dire season predictions?
“A lot of things have to go right for them to make the playoffs. All guys have to stay healthy, guys have to play well and have breakout years.”
The Canucks open their season next Saturday against the Flames.
