Abbotsford Police have charged 24-year-old Dwight Love-Paulson with assault in connection with an attempted abduction over the weekend.
Police say a 16-year-old girl was waiting for a bus at Old Yale Road near Mitchell Street on Saturday when the man approached her, offering liquor and a ride to work.
When she refused, Love-Paulson allegedly grabbed her arm and attempted to pull her towards his parked dark red or burgundy van.
Constable Ian Macdonald says she managed to escape with the help of a Good Samaritan.
“Also want to continue our appeal for the good Samaritan to come forward. At this point he has not made contact with us, we very much would like that to commend him, and get some accounts of the incident as well.”
Officials are hoping the good Samaritan will come forward and speak to investigators.
Macdonald says the victim is recuperating.
“She’s still shaken up, but I think she will be somewhat relieved to know we have the suspect in custody, and that the investigation is progressing quite nicely.”
