Famed B.C. author W.P. Kinsella has died at the age of 81.
His publicist confirmed that Kinsella died in Hope this afternoon just after 12 p.m., invoking the assisted dying provisions of Bill C-14.
Kinsella is most remembered for the publication of his novel “Shoeless Joe,” which told the story of a farmer who felt compelled to build a baseball diamond in his corn field.
Eventually, the novel was adapted to become the film Field of Dreams.
Kinsella requested there would be no memorial service following his death.
