With B.C.’s schools having until the end of the year to include specific action to prevent anti-LGBTQ bullying, NDP Spencer Chandra Herbert says the government is finally implementing policies he’s argued for.
He says if the government wants to adopt it just months before an election, that’s still a win for schoolkids.
Province after province have changed their policies because they realise every student should have the chance to succeed.
“The conservatives in Alberta are even standing up for LGBTQ kids (but) finally with an election coming up it looks like (the government) is finally going to do the right thing.”
Earlier today Education Minister Mike Bernier told reporters he wished he had this policy when his bullied daughter was in school, Chandra Herbert says it’s a policy he’s been calling for the last eight years.
