An update from Vancouver police on an incident that sent two pedestrians to hospital Wednesday morning on Vancouver’s downtown eastside.
Acting Sgt. Brian Montague says one of the pedestrians injured after being struck by a taxi at Main and Hastings has taken a turn for the worse.
He says the 42-year-old man’s condition has now been downgraded.
“He was in acute care yesterday, last night he was moved to the intensive care unit as his conditions worsened, and I would consider his condition right now as grave.”
Montague says preliminary evidence points that the taxi had the right of way.
“The cab appears to have had the green light through Main and was going with the flow of traffic, so this looks like an error on the pedestrians’ part.”
He says the second pedestrian, who’s 68, is also in hospital but in stable condition with broken ribs and a broken nose.
