Unifor has served 72 hour strike notice on the Fairmont Empress hotel in Victoria.
The union says a strike could begin as early as Thursday morning if the hotel owners don’t get serious about reaching a fair deal.
The union says members are increasingly frustrated about staffing levels, and says renovations at the historic hotel have led to “harm and stress” on the people working there.
“I’m confident we can work through our differences, but the owners have to show some appreciation to the workers who are making the Empress a successful business,” said Unifor National Representative, Stu Shileds, in a media release.
Unifor Local 4276 represents almost 500 workers at the hotel.
