Commuters between downtown Vancouver and the North Shore will now be able to Tweet, stream, or catch Pokemon at will, as TransLink launches free wifi on the SeaBus.
The transit authority has partnered with Shaw to provide the service.
Previously, commuters had been offered free wifi at terminals on both shores, and TransLink says there was high demand.
Since that service launched in December of 2015, it says consumers have burned through more than a thousand gigabites.
The service will be available by selecting the “ShawGuest” wifi network while onboard, though Shaw customers who’ve used Shaw Go wifi will connect automatically.
Free wifi has been growing in popularity in recent years, as the public becomes ever more data-hungry and smartphone addicted.
