“I know that the vehicle was registered to transport workers to and from their respective location.”
Delta’s Police Traffic Section is probing a crash involving a van carrying several farm workers, and a BMW.
Constable Leisa Schaefer says alcohol was not a factor, but investigators will be looking at the condition of the van, if speed played a role, and if workers were wearing seat belts.
“I can only infer, because it was registered to transport workers, that there would have been seat belts.”
Schaefer gave no timeline for the investigation.
“But if there is no fault, no injuries, it won’t take long at all.”
She says four people were treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The incident happened Monday night at around 8:00 PM, on Nordel Way and Brooke Road.
In 2007, three farm workers died in Abbotsford when an overloaded van flipped on Highway 1.
