Officials say one person died in this morning’s condo fire in North Vancouver.
The fire was displaced numerous residents, some of which were part of dramatic balcony rescues.
The blaze broke out at around 3:00 AM near St.Patrick’s Avenue and East 2nd Street.
City of North Vancouver Fire Chief Dan Pistilli says crews worked hard to douse hot spots, leaving some residents scrambling for their lives.
“Multiple rescues of people on upper balconies…so some that were evacuated from the inside of the building, some we actually had to rescue from the balconies as well too, a couple of pets.”
The fire prompted road closures and power outages in the area.
No word yet on a cause or how much damage it caused.
