An RCMP adjudication board has upheld the demotion of an B.C. officer after a party at his house didn’t go exactly as planned.
The Board’s decided the officer should not hold the rank of corporal in the RCMP after hosting a dinner at his home.
He offered an alcoholic drink to another mountie on call, saying it was okay to consume one drink every four hours as it was policy.
In a follow up meeting over the incident with his Staff Sergeant, the officer was accused of using inappropriate and vulgar language.
For that he was given a reprimand.
In a written decision the Board says there are no rules stipulating a member can’t offer a drink before going to work.
However, the Board says such a move could bring discredit on the RCMP.
