The Premier is expected to address a sweeping report today that aimed at restoring faith in the real estate industry.
Premier Christy Clark says she will make an “important announcement on the real estate industry and consumer protection” at 12:45pm in the wake of an independent advisory group report outlining 28 recommendations to crack down on unscrupulous realtors.
Among them, a proposal to ban agents from representing buyers and sellers in the same transaction, and a call for hefty fines of up to $500,000 dollars for misconduct.
The independent advisory group was launched by the Real Estate Council of B.C. in February following reports of shadow flipping.
New Democrat housing critic David Eby is demanding an end to self-regulation of the industry.
