With the looming threat of a postal labour dispute, the city of Vancouver is warning the public to take precautions with their property taxes.
Posties could be out of work as early as July 2nd, and Vancouver Property are due just three days later on July 5th.
That’s prompted the city to remind homeowners to get cracking. It’s warning anyone who plans to mail them in the traditional way to make sure they’re in the box no later than tomorrow.
And it warns it won’t accept a Canada Post post-mark as proof of on-time payment.
Otherwise, homeowners are being asked to make payments through online banking, or in person at their bank or city hall.
Late taxes are subject to a five percent penalty.
