Yesterday CKNW reported that the May Wah SRO Hotel in Chinatown is up for sale.
But according to City of Vancouver Officials, that’s not true – and the association who owns the building is keeping tight-lipped about it.
So is the May Wah Hotel on the market or not?
Mike Jang, former president and now member of the Shon Yee Benevolent Association says he was shocked to hear the news.
“I found out last night, I heard on the radio and there was no comment from the Shon Yee people, nobody wants to say anything. That’s why I phoned the city and asked what they could do.”
Jang says he spoke to members of the association but doesn’t know if the May Wah hotel is actually up for sale or why the association would sell it.
The hotel on 262 East Pender Street is listed for 10 million dollars under the Royal Pacific Realty Group.
However the realtor involved in the listing declined to comment.
City officials aren’t saying much but are willing to work with the Shon Yee Benevolent Association to keep the SRO.
