At least twenty people were forced from their homes in West Vancouver after major flooding.
No one has been hurt, and the evacuations were precautionary.
West Van Police and Fire are being assisted by emergency personnel from the City and District of North Vancouver.
West Vancouver Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Bush:
“Well what we had last night was that we had what we call an extreme storm event, we had a large volume of precipitation. One of our creeks, Cypress Creek, the water level in that area rose quite substantially…”
Leading to flooding in the 4400-block of Marine Drive at Ross Crescent.
“We had 4 houses that were evacuated due to the sheer volume of water.”
He says several other homes had water intrusion on their properties.
No one was hurt.
Cypress Creek is flowing normally now as the clean-up continues.
West Vancouver Transit provided temporary shelter in a bus for displaced residents.
