Some people shopping at Guildford Town Centre in Surrey around 8P.M. Thursday may have had their trip cut short when police locked down an area of the mall.
The reason why, though, stems from a police chase on Wednesday, after a motorist called in someone in a Grey Toyota Camry flashing a gun during a road rage incident on 128th St near 66th Ave.
A vehicle with the same plates was seen by an unmarked police cruiser on 130th St near 77th Ave a short time later.
When the police vehicle turned on its emergency lights and started a U-turn, the suspect’s vehicle swerved into oncoming traffic and sped through a number of red lights before police lost sight.
It was later found to be a rental car.
On Thursday the same vehicle passed a marked police car in Whalley, driving the opposite direction.
While the police car didn’t activate its emergency lights, police say the person driving the grey Camry started driving extremely dangeously for what appeared to be no other reason than seeing the police car – speeding into oncoming traffic, and through red lights.
There was no chase though – Police followed it to Guildford Town Centre via helicopter.
After a search by multiple police units including the gang squad and the Lower Mainland Emergency Response Unit, three young men were taken into custody, and the vehicle seized for investigation.
No word yet on any charges.
Police are asking any witnesses to either incident to call Surrey RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
