He needs a kidney transplant but the trouble is, his blood type is rare.
But he says in his search for a donor, he’s been running into a wall.
“With my rare blood of B positive there’s a lot of A and a lot of O but there’s not much B.”
Some members of his family are a match but they’re not able to be donors.
“My parents are not healthy, they’re the same diabetic and blood pressure so they’re not good candidates.”
Bawja says he’s been a diabetic for six years and when he started to experience sore feet, went to the doctor and discovered his kidney function had dropped.
Live donor transplants have a 90 to 95-per cent success rate.
