The BC Liberals have the first casualty of a provincial election that’s almost a year away.
Realtor Randy Rinaldo has dropped out as the party’s candidate in the riding of Burnaby-Lougheed.
On social media, the 33-year-old blamed child poverty on bad parenting, and called the Roma people rapists and thieves.
But in a statement shared on Twitter on Friday, Rinaldo says he’s made the personal decision to step down.
He says the old tweets were a distraction from his candidacy and family responsibilities…and hopes his decision to withdraw won’t deter other young people from seeking elected office.
