A 39-year-old man from Washington State was arrested this morning heading into B.C., where police allege he was trying to meet an underage girl for sex.
KIRO7 says Ferndale resident Christopher David Johnston was apprehended while biking towards the Sumas border, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Johnston had been communicating with who he believed was a 12-year-old girl, arranging to meet with her in Abbotsford.
In fact, he was corresponding with an undercover agent.
He’s been charged with attempted enticement of a minor, which carries a minimum ten-year prison sentence.
He will appear in the U.S. District Court in Seattle next week.
