Vancouver City Council has decided to reject a night club liquor license in the new Trump Tower on West Georgia Street.
The decision is being praised by the Coal Harbour Resident’s Association and it’s co-chair Sanjay Maharaj.
“The city looked at our views, the owners and residents views on this matter. There were very strong opposition from the residents in the area against this idea and we are very pleased with the decision.”
The application requested hours of operation from 9 am to 2am, seven days a week, which is one of the concerns Maharaj said residents in the area had with the night club.
“The biggest sticking points were the noise, the nightclub being open until 3am seven days a week. Obviously with that comes the noise issue and traffic issues.”
Although council rejected a liquor license application for a Drai’s pool bar and nightclub plus a patio, they did approve a 150 seat lounge for the hotel’s lobby.
