A close call near Port Moody’s Rocky Point Park boat launch has sent the driver of a vehicle to hospital.
Just before six this evening, a single vehicle drove out of a parking lot, drove over a grassy area, knocked out a park bench and crashed into the water.
Port Moody’s Deputy Fire Chief Gord Parker says it’s incredible no one was seriously hurt.
“It took out one of the park benches, and then it basically became airborne and landed just on the edge of the water in a rocky area.”
The vehicle is not leaking any fuel into the water and crews will stay on scene until the car is removed from the water.
The driver appears to be in stable condition says Parker.
The cause of the crash is still uncertain and drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been involved.
