A glimmer of hope in contract talks between Metro Vancouver bus drivers and Coast Mountain Bus Company.
The two sides have spent a day at the bargaining table and in a release, the union representing drivers Unifor local 111 says they’ve started to see some movement from the company. At the same time the union says
“We’re not yet there in terms of acceptable positions on contracting-out and improved working conditions.”
Two key issues on the table: contracting-out of maintenance work and improving working conditions. The company also apparently wants “Sunday premiums” scrapped.
The two sides have agreed to continue bargaining on May 26.
