Obey the rules of the road…
“Clearly this 20-year-old new driver in dad’s car yesterday was not doing that.”
Another young driver is facing the consequences in Abbotsford after being busted doing 70 kilometres an hour over the limit in a school zone just as the kids were headed home.
Constable Ian MacDonald says it happened Monday around 3:00 PM.
MacDonald says this time, parents weren’t in the car, but they did get a call after an officer pulled the vehicle over.
“He stopped the vehicle, issued some fines to this new driver, and also towed what turned out to be dad’s vehicle from the scene. And that left this 20-year-old driver to call his mom, and wait for her to pick him up.”
He says the 20-year-old – or his parents – are going to have to pay.
“So he’ll be facing upwards of $600 in fines. The compoundment is obviously going to cost him and his family some money, and likely this will end up costing him his license – at least, in the short term.”
MacDonald says officers in Abbotsford impound speeding vehicles on an almost daily basis.
