After three months of public consultations, the Vancouver School Board has opened its ears to feedback.
“We’ve had 2500 individual pieces of feedback, including over 1500 from an online survey.”
Parents and stakeholders want more funding from the provincial government, better access to community services, and schools within reasonable distance from homes when it comes to the school board’s Long Range Facilities plan.
Board chair Mike Lombardi says information gathered show there’s room for a little give-and-take on one of the key issues.
”They are prepared to engage in conversations about closures and consolidations if we expedited seismic upgrades. But they also wanted an innovative teaching and learning environment.”
A staff report is due before the board later this month.
The board will then update and finalize the long range plan before the superintendent makes recommendations.
