Officials with the Vancouver Police Department are still trying to find their man after last night’s lengthy stand off in East Vancouver near Joyce and Cherry Street.
In a statement released Thursday morning, Constable Brian Montague says officials entered the home at around 10:30 PM Wednesday night, but did not find the suspect.
Vancouver Police are still slim on details, calling it a ‘police incident’.
It started around 4:30 PM on Wednesday, when officers surrounded a home.
Early reports indicated police may have fired shots, but Montague clarified that, saying the sounds were officers using non-lethal weapons.
“The VPD have not fired shots at the home. The reported “shots” are officers using flash bangs and knocking on the door using an ARWEN.”
An ARWEN is a riot gun which fires a variety of different non-lethal rounds.
Montague added early on, that there was no risk to the public.
