Vancouver’s beloved fireworks festival is back with a bang this year.
The 26th annual Honda Celebration of Light will feature it’s signature fireworks competition off the shores of English Bay, this year between the Netherlands, Australia and USA Disney.
City councillor and previous judge of the competition Heather Deal says this is the first year showcasing a Disney team, and that they may have an advantage.
“Sometimes you get a country that has a great soundtrack, but it doesn’t really synchronize with the fireworks. Other times you have these wonderful, bombastic fireworks with all the shapes, but it doesn’t really go with the music. And I would expect with all their experience of doing it every night of the year that Disney will be very good at the coordination.”
The three day festival will take place Saturday July 23rd, Wednesday July 27th and Saturday July 30th including free concert series SHOREFEST that will be headlined by Canadian rock band Loverboy.
Those who want a VIP view of the festivities have the option of purchasing tickets for the Keg Lounge, the Inukshuk Lounge or the YVR Observation Deck. Early bird tickets are on sale as of 12 p.m. April 7.
