As this current heat wave in the real estate market continues always have a Home Inspector at the ready before you even begin looking at properties.
Just as you would pre-approve your mortgage, the better prepared you are, the smoother the process should be.
So, when the markets on fire and bidding wars are common having a home inspector on standby can be the difference between home ownership and more looking.
Recent Home Discovery show guest Trina Skare of “Need To Know Home Inspections Ltd.” offered these 3 things when looking for a home inspector:
- Contact a minimum of three companies, read online reviews and ask for references.
- Cheaper is not always better; you’ll have to pay for experience and knowledge.
- Check with Consumer protection BC to be sure they are licensed http://www.consumerprotectionbc.ca/home-inspector-portal
It may seem obvious, but when you remove subjects including a home inspection from your offer there is a greater risk to finding problems after you’ve moved in.
But don’t get me started, we’ll save that topic for another post.
