There’s been a guilty plea in the case of a 9-year-old girl who was allegedly lured from the bedroom of her Surrey home and sexually assaulted two years ago.
It was a story that rocked Metro Vancouver.
And then there was a twist.
RCMP said a man with mental illness falsely admitted to the crime in August 2014 was not the right guy, and instead 30-year-old Cory Schaumlefell was charged with kidnapping, sexual assault and break-and enter.
The Criminal Justice Branch confirms Schaumleffel has pleaded guilty to one count of break and enter, but the status of the kidnapping and sexual assault charges in unclear.
He will be sentenced in June.
