Vancouver has the dubious distinction of having the most expensive gas in North American.
“At a buck 15.9, you’re well ahead of the runner up as far as the West Coast is concerned, which would be Los Angeles. There they’re paying a buck a litre, if you want to convert it.”
Dan McTeague from GasBuddy.com explains why our gas is so expensive.
“You have a lot of tax, and of course, not enough production of oil or gasoline in that region, means you have to pay just a little bit more because we are borrowing from the Americans.”
But he has some tips to find cheap gas.
“Saturdays and Sundays, and of course if you go outside of Metro Vancouver where the taxes are cheaper by some 11 cents a litre.”
Gas prices are expected to go up 5 cents by the end of this week.
