Conservative MP and former Surrey Mayor, Dianne Watts, says there are problems with how the budget is distributed when it comes to infrastructure.
“Well you can’t measure it through ridership when you don’t have anything to ride on.”
She says Tuesday’s federal budget did not pay enough attention to infrastructure needs across the country, especially to communities that have no way of measuring transit usage.
“One of the things that really concerns me is that those dollars that are allocated to BC are based on ridership. Well that leaves Surrey out because we don’t have the infrastructure to have that ridership.”
Watts says she will be talking to the Minister to challenge this measurement that leaves many growing cities in Canada, such as Surrey, behind.
