Another avalanche death in BC.
A 45-year-old snowmobiler has died after an avalanche in the Castlegar area, RCMP has confirmed it was a local area man.
The RCMP activated the local Search and Rescue team Monday evening but were unable to locate the man until Tuesday.
Castlegar RCMP received a report from the man’s family, saying he was overdue from a day long excursion.
Police say the man’s snowmobile had been located by another snowmobiler, partially buried in an avalanche.
The Castlegar RCMP will continue to assist the BC Coroners Service with their investigation into the man’s death.

This comes after Search and rescue volunteers from Wells Gray and Kamloops recovered the bodies of two men killed in an avalanche near Blue River today.
Avalanche Canada is urging backcountry skiers and sledders of the increased danger of slides.
