It’s an extra special day for some B.C. families welcoming their new additions.
Whistler dad Tim Koshul welcomed his baby girl at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver this morning.
He says the unique February 29th birthday, which only occurs once every four years, has prompted some laughs.
“I’m getting teased a little bit on Facebook. I have a friend that plays in the NHL and he has been traded a couple of times in the last couple of years and one of my friends commented that with the extra money that I save from birthday parties, I can buy his newest jersey. People presume that there won’t be a party, but I’m sure we will have one on the 28th or the 1st of March.”
But an advocacy group called the Honour Society of Leap Year Day Babies says it doesn’t come without its hassles, as technology and some corporations fail to recognize the date even exists.
