If you filled up on gas this morning, chances are you were left a little short changed.
Vancouver gas prices soared to 111.9 overnight, an increase of nearly five cents.
“Vancouver, of course, now has the dubious distinction of having the highest priced gasoline anywhere in North America.”
Dan McTeague from GasBuddy.com says it’s a matter of supply.
“It’s a reflection of traders, especially in the US Pacific Northwest market, looking at a bit of tightness in supply, and anticipating there will be a surge in prices going forward. I guess they’re getting a bit of an early jump on prices.”
McTeague says one silver lining is the slowly rebounding Canadian dollar that should ease some of the shock at the pumps.
