Washington State has its first confirmed case of the Zika Virus.
State health officials say a man in his 20’s who recently returned from the South Pacific has tested positive.
This comes as U.S. President Barack Obama asked lawmakers to okay $1.9-billion to combat the virus.
The Zika Virus is spread by mosquitoes in some South and Central American countries.
Pregnant women have been encouraged not to travel to the affected areas.
There is no vaccine.
B.C. has seen two confirmed cases, both travellers returning from abroad.
