More young people are entering the trades.
According to a survey by the BC Construction Association, the number of youth going directly into the construction trades from high school is up 15-per cent since 2014.
The survey also found BC’s construction industry is drawing skilled workers from Alberta.
Manley McLachlan is President of the Association.
“It’s good for BC to benefit from having access to those workers, it’s good for the workers because they’re coming here for jobs and I think it keeps people employed in the industry.”
Looking ahead, the survey also found 94-per cent of BC construction employers say they’re planning to hire in 2016.
