Don’t tell me you can’t relate to this. You’ve had a long night out, you’ve stayed out way too late, have probably had a little too much to drink, and you probably won’t sleep as much as you usually do. You wake up with a pounding headache.
Your first thoughts are “how am I going to get through this day?”
For many of us the recipe looks like this: First, a greasy breakfast, then maybe some Gatorade or water to drink, and some Advil to relieve that headache from your hangover symptoms.
But it’s the 21st century – so why don’t we have an easier answer?
Well, a new clinic in Sydney, Australia claims to have developed one.
Max Petro from the The Hangover Clinic says they can get rid of your hangover symptoms in just thirty minutes using intravenous drips.
“We’ve had a lot of people say, you know, I can’t drink like I used to, or I can’t recover like I used to”
It may sound like a simple solution, but the offer doesn’t come cheap.
Now, going to a hangover clinic after a big night of drinking may sound like a great idea, but not everyone agrees. Some people say this facility actually encourages binge drinking.
That’s a charge Petro and the clinic dispute.
“We don’t sell any alcohol, we’re the morning after, so I mean there’s no one binge drinking in our clinic. We’re just there to make sure people recover and get on with our day.”
Whether it works or not is still up for debate – but sadly, we can’t try it out for ourselves.
Fortunately, everyone seems to have answer of their own. We took to the airwaves on Drex Live to poll Metro Vancouver listeners on the best way to cure a hangover. We got some interesting results.
- “My cure for a hangover is don’t go to bed, so you don’t wake up with a hangover, you don’t go to bed.”
- “Well first you have a strawberry shake, and then you have sex.”
- My wife is from Mexico and what they do there is when the bar is closed, they go for mondongo soup, which is basically a spicy tripe, and they don’t get the hangover. You party all night, 6:00 am you go for soup, you never get a hangover.”

Okay, now you’ve heard what the listeners have had to say.
But Drex has his own magical cure for a hangover – one guaranteed to work every single time.
“Can I get a drum roll please because this is the ultimate hangover cure. And here it is, the ultimate hangover cure: Don’t damn drink to begin with!”
Consulting the pros
Okay, we all have our theories about the best hangover cures, but I think it’s time to bring in an expert.
We asked Dr. Rhonda Low for the sure-fire winning recipe… only to be disappointed.
“There is no scientifically proven cure for a hangover. People have tried to come up with hangover cures, and many people have all sorts of myths and thought, but there’s no scientifically proven cure.”
So, in the mean time – that leaves you with two options. Follow Drex’s advice… or do your best to make it through that day after.
