Justice Ministers from across the country have been meeting and one of the big topics on the agenda is the upcoming Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Inquiry.
B.C. Justice Minister Suzanne Anton says her province had a lot to offer.
“We were very involved in that discussion today because we have a lot of experience coming out of our own missing women’s inquiry and I was able to tell the federal minister about changes we’ve made to missing person’s legislation, changes we’ve made to policing, positive changes that came out of the great tragedy which was the missing and murdered women of the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver.”
“We were also talking about leadership and justice innovation and we have a lot of interesting initiatives underway in British Columbia, and it’s an opportunity to share those kinds of things with our colleagues and to hear from our colleagues around the country is very helpful.”
The Federal Government is still in a pre-inquiry stage.
