North Shore Rescue says the seven hikers stranded on St. Mark’s Summit near Cypress earlier Saturday evening have been led off the mountain.
Team Leader Mike Danks says the group lost sight of the trail.
A field team was deployed to help the stranded hikers, and had all seven of them off the mountain by midnight.
Among the hikers was one man with diabetes who was reported to be in medical distress.
Search and Rescue manager Alan McMorty says the man’s friends were concerned about him when they called for help.
“They kinda thought that he might be, and they were a little worried about it, but after our doctor got to him and checked him over…” “he was never in difficulty or distress with his diabetes.”
McMorty adds anyone headed into the North Shore mountains should be well-prepared, and pack warm clothes, extra food, and headlamps for everybody in the group.
He says the group that went up the mountain yesterday only had a single flashlight.
