A long-time Langley politician has passed away after a short battle with brain cancer.
63-year-old Langley City Councillor Dave Hall, who spent seven years on city council and nine years on the Langley School Board, has lost his battle with cancer.
Mayor Ted Schaffer says while Hall acted as the unofficial opposition, often challenging him on his positions, there was always a mutual respect for one another.
“I would say to him that he’s got ten ideas and nine aren’t worth anything, and he would laugh and say at least he’s getting his point across, and I would say okay, fair enough, you’re buying coffee.”
The city says it is flying flags at half mast in honour of “this dedicated, passionate and thought provoking man.”
A by-election will be held for Hall’s seat in February.
In other sad news, the President of the Surrey Teachers’ Association has passed away suddenly at the age of 39.
The union says Jennifer Wadge suffered a pulmonary embolism and died at home on December 29th.
