“So passionate about community, so passionate about giving and was just so, so driven to make a change in community and society…I’m kind of in shock”.
That’s how Gobinder Thakar, a family friend of Alberta Conservative MLA Manmeet Bhullar describes him.
Bhullar was struck and killed in a highway accident as he was helping another struck vehicle.
Thakar says the 35 year-old MLA was a shining light for the Canadian-Punjabi community.
“Ah, god. Uh. Wonderful, wonderful human being”
“He, you know, grew up in Canada yet he understood both cultures and he understood the struggles and the needs of the community”, Thakar adds.
Although the Conservative politician was based in Calgary, an outpouring of support came in from across party lines and across provincial borders.
