An Abbotsford veteran who had his scooter stolen has received a new one.
Eighty-three-year-old Bert Wiebe’s scooter was pinched sometime Friday near his home.
When a Good Samaritan heard about it, he offered to replace the $5,000 unit so the senior can attend Remembrance Day ceremonies.
“The response was tremendous, really heartwarming. It’s almost embarrassing. I thank him very much for the prompt action and everything,” Wiebe says.
Police have released surveillance footage of a person of interest of the theft.
The Good Samaritan, Chris Kehler, is now collecting donations through his company to purchase three more scooters for the legion to help other veterans in need.
