A new hotline has been launched for BC Nurses.
The hotline, which will be manned 24/7, if for nurses to call after being assaulted on the job.
BC Nurses’ Union President Gayle Duteil says this hotline is an unfortunate necessity.
“Nurses and health care workers have the most dangerous jobs in the province. They face more violence, actually, than police officers. They have a higher rate of work related assaults than police officers.”
Duteil says while this is a step in the right direction, more work needs to be done, so that eventually this type of hotline will no longer be necessary.
