Prime Minister-designate Justin Trudeau’s promise to legalize and regulate marijuana is music to the ears of Vancouver pot shop owners.
Don Briere, owner of Weeds Glass and Gifts, was in Toronto for election night, putting the last touches on leases for his 22nd and 23rd locations to go with the several he operates in B.C.
He says he’s looking forward to a future where marijuana dispensaries don’t face the threat of being closed by Health Canada.
“The orders come from the top. I mean, a foot soldier can’t give orders and send it all the way up to the general. It’s got to come from the top down. So with (Stephen) Harper not there, the policies are obviously going to change because … instead of putting $20 million into the RCMP for going after grow-ops, Trudeau is going to legalize it.”
Briere’s two Abbotsford locations were recently ordered shut down, but he is fighting to keep them open.
